the 12.7 run took a toll on my 110K mile tranny, its time for a new tranny.
is it better to get one used or new?
im thinking of slapping a new motor and tranny/clutch in all at once.Does anybody know where to get the whole deal cheap?
TRANNY,MOTOR,and i'll get the clutch on my own.

Just wondering, what is the tranny doing now and how do you know that it was the 12 sec run? That sucks, but I bet if you just take your time and search around you can find the whole shabang for cheap. Maybe check over at www.thepartstrader.com Goodluck

right after the 12 sec run,i heard a ticking noise coming from under the car.so i thought it might be the wheel bearing or cv joint,so,as i left the track to go home, the car was shaky and whobbily.i drove it 2 hours home and got under the car to check it out.as i turn the wheel while its jacked up,i can hear a clicking noise or broken metal noise coming from inside the tranny.I've always had 2.2 or worse 60 ft. times because i always babied the clutch off the line, but that night i wanted to see what my car could actually run.Because the previous weekend i ran a 13.1 @ 108,with a 2.2 60 ft.,so i knew i had a 12 sec. timeslip in the near future.
well, thanks for the info you've provided for me.

Definately sounds like your differential. I would'nt push it much, it could break and frag your whole tranny. Why not just slap in a Quaiffe or Kaaz for a whole lot less money? Better performance to boot, and while you're in there, you can replace any gear sets that need it. Just a thought.

yeah and besides, your gears are likely in good shape. may just need to replace all the bearings. thats what I found with my 70k mile trans anyway. My 2nd gear wouldn't stay in place, thought it was a synchro, turned out everything looked good, just the bearings were shot. to hell I might add.

YEah... if coming from inside tranny sounds like a diff.
I broke my axle last week. All I gotta say is be careful laying down judicious ammounts of torque in 1st and 2nd gear while the steering wheel is turned pulling out of a gas station.
My wheel was all wobbly as you describe. I bought a new axle Saturday, but its been too cold to change it!
